World Book Day

This year for World Book Day the whole school made a story together. It started in Year R and was passed all the way up to Year 6, with each class adding to the story. Please enjoy reading our lovely story!

This is a magical house that lives in a magical forest. It has lots of fairies and elves in this house. It has wings because it is flying all the way to Leeds Castle. The Superstar Class saw it flying over their school.

The magical house then flew over Year 1 and we saw fairies and elves waving at us. The flying house then landed on the playground and a tiny magical door opened and out came an elf and said, “would you like to come on a magical adventure to Leeds Castle?” We all said, “yes please” and off we went.

When they arrived at Leeds Castle, they saw a scary orange dragon! It was making huge fire bombs which it was aiming at the Year 1 class and teachers! The Year 1s quickly ran to the maze to hide from the mean, nasty predator.

The Year 1s were frantically running through the maze trying to get to safety. The fire, flame dragon was flying overhead and shooting colossal, scorching fireballs. The dragon had ginormous, razor sharp teeth and his head was as big as a mountain. Suddenly, one of the fireballs lands in front of Year 1 blocking their way to safety. Magically Year 3 appeared in the sky, using their super powers from their World Book Day costumes.

After Year 3 started flying, they recklessly lost control and suddenly plummeted towards the ground where the dragon waited hungrily. As his mouth opened like an endless void, Year 4 swooped in on their turtle jet. The dragon was spellbound by Mrs Stewart in her stripy cat onesie. Miss Belsey heard the commotion and made colossal, chunky hippos rain down from the sky. Working with Miss Belsey Year 4 used their extraordinary water powers as they were floating in the air and extinguished the flames in the dragons gaping mouth like superheroes. While Miss Marett came in on her majestic, whimsical Hippogriff because the raging fire in the complex maze was creeping ever closer to Year 1.

But wait! Year 5 heard the commotion and the pupils screaming so decided to help and kill the dragon. Miss Dunn, dressed as Paddington Bear pulled a marmalade sandwich from her suitcase to distract the fire dragon so that she could prepare her weapon. She snuck up behind the fire dragon and plunged her pocket sword in to the dragon’s neck. It cried out in pain…

Magically, Year 6 came flying in on the benches. On the benches, Alvin and the Chipmunks were ready to save the day. The Chipettes sang a harmonious melody to distract the dragon. Suddenly, Tweedledee and Tweedledum shot up into the air, powered by their hats and almost falling down drop kicked the dragon in the stomach. Then the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter started laughing hysterically and the Queen of Hearts shouted, “off with his head!” The Card Guard grabbed his oversized Ace of Hearts card and delivered a lethal paper cut. His head was cut off. Every one was safe!

Tiger Troop continued
Tiger Troop continues to be a highlight of the Year 5 and 6 week.

This week, Sergeant Williams and Sergeant Xanthe taught us the NATO alphabet, which we then had to remember and apply during outdoor drills while listening carefully to instructions.

We focused on the importance of attention to detail through a group activity that involved memorising the layout of equipment and rearranging it in both the same and mirror positions. To be successful, we needed to use clear and effective communication within our teams.

Last week, the whole school celebrated Science Week.

Alongside dedicated class projects ranging from designing a waterproof raincoat for Paddington Bear to exploring the suitability of other planets for human life pupils also enjoyed a visit from the Sublime Science team on Tuesday.

Every class took part in hands-on workshops: Key Stage 1 pupils got delightfully gooey while mixing and making slime, while Key Stage 2 pupils turned into confectioners as they created their own sherbet.

The week was topped off with an impressive science show full of exciting experiments and demonstrations, with plenty of eager volunteers from the audience.

Year 6 WW2 Trip

We took part in plenty of workshops where the children got to perform to the class to show their
knowledge and understanding. The class also went on a train ride, which was fun and bumpy!
We had a fantastic day at Kent Life last week and learnt a lot of new facts about life during WW2.

Year 1 Leeds Castle Trip

Year 1 went on a trip to Leeds Castle yesterday. We were very excited to visit such a special place. We had a great time exploring the castle and looking at all the different rooms inside. We enjoyed seeing the furniture, paintings and decorations. Afterwards, we played in the park and had lots of fun on the obstacle course. One of the most exciting parts was trying not to get lost in the maze! We also met the birds of prey that live there and learned some interesting facts about them. At the end of the day, we had a very wet walk back to the car park, but we still had a fantastic time.
